Mute Swan - Eye to Eye
Original image
Mute Swan mother looking intently into the new opening of her egg's shell. An egg that is imminent to hatch. It is exciting to think that the mother can view her newborn cygnet even before birth. Many cygnets do not live beyond 12 months due to flying accidents. They are grey, downy and as elegant as their parents when first born. I am thrilled at the prospect of perhaps being there when the birthing takes place. Taken June 10th, 2007 in Stratford Ontario.
