This is a large water bird that seldom leaves the sight of land, they often sit upright with half spread wings in order to dry them. Wonderful fisherman that I have watched for hours sitting on my boat, they are known to nest in trees, mostly destoying them and often are not welcome because of this characteristic.
It is fascinating to watch colonies of
Cormorants, each one in the tree striking a different pose. They are very family oriented, with many flying in and out with such purpose.
